  • Selling Family Jewelry – Choosing the Right Jewelry Buyer

    April 20, 2016

    Selling Family Jewelry

You have probably seen advertisements for shops on the side of the road that will buy your gold, silver or precious gemstones. You probably also know that you could visit a pawnshop to get some cash for your jewelry or perhaps even sell your pieces online. However, if you have an heirloom piece or another item that is particularly valuable or important to you, how do you make certain you choose the right place to sell your jewelry? We’ve put together a list of things you should look for in a high-end jewelry buyer—to make sure you are always working with the best.

    A Comfortable Location

Is the jewelry buyer located in a seedy part of town or sharing space with a pawn shop? That could be a sign you need to keep looking. A trusted jeweler will do what they can to make you feel comfortable.

    Willing to Provide Knowledge

If your buyer isn’t willing to show you what you have and why the offer is what it is, the buyer is not doing you a service. A great jewelry buyer has confidence in his or her offers and will be happy to explain the reason for the price.

    Carries High-End Pieces

A jewelry shop that mainly deals in low-end or even fake pieces is not the place to sell your antiques or heirloom pieces. Choose a facility that specializes in what you have to offer.
Provides Fair Offers – While not every piece of jewelry will command top dollar offers, you don’t want to be shortchanged. Work with a store that makes fair offers and leaves you feeling comfortable about the transaction.

    Superior Service

You should be wowed by the service you received from a jewelry store. This is true whether you are a buyer OR a seller. Excellent customer service is a must.

    Around for the Long Haul

There are plenty of fly by night establishments, but if you do your research, you can find companies that have been around for years or even decades. Working with a company that has a long history means that you can feel sure it will still be in business tomorrow, too.

If you’re in or around New York City, you have access to one of the most trusted jewelry buyers around—Roy Herlz Jewelers. Call us, contact us online or stop by our store and let our jewelry buyers give you guidance on the best way to sell your precious items today.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. They also may not apply to you because your province or country may not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental, consequential or other damages.

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Roy Herzl and its affiliated and related entities and each of their respective principals, officers, directors, managers, partners, members, shareholders, agents, employees, representatives, successors and assigns from and against any losses, liabilities, damages and expenses (including, without limitation, interest, penalties and reasonable attorneys’ fees and disbursements) which any of them may incur or become obligated to pay or for which any of them may become liable to pay in any claims against them, arising out of or in connection with Your breach of your representations, warranties, covenants or agreements contained herein.

Interpreting the Terms and Conditions

The Terms and Conditions set forth herein apply to the maximum extent permitted by law. A court may hold that we cannot enforce a part of this contract as written. If this happens, then you and we will replace that part with terms that most closely match the intent of the part that we cannot enforce. The rest of this contract will not change. This is the entire contract between you and us regarding your use of the service. It supersedes any prior contract or statements regarding your use of the service. If you have confidentiality obligations related to the service, those obligations remain in force.
