  • 4 Reasons to Consider Vintage Engagement Rings

    January 20, 2016

Choosing the right engagement ring for that special person in your life is a big decision. If you have ever browsed the selection at one of the jewelry stores at the mall or big box stores, you have probably noticed one thing. The rings start to run together in your head. You are not alone in that line of thought; it’s true. Sometimes the rings from these stores can be a bit “cookie cutter” in look and feel. Another option is to go with a vintage ring. Vintage jewelry can be an amazing alternative to the norm—consider these four reasons why this is the case.

    Unique Styling

Yes, those department store rings all seem to look the same, don’t they? On the other hand, vintage rings often have a unique look that you can spot a mile away. If you want a ring that will not be just like everyone else’s, choosing vintage just makes sense.

    Quality Craftsmanship

While many rings today are well made too, there is just something amazing about the work from the past. Jewelers took pride in their work, and rings (as well as other jewelry) was designed to last. The craftsmanship found in a high-quality vintage piece is not easy to match in a ring that you purchase new.

    Wearing a Piece of History

Every couple likes to share stories about their relationship and their engagement. When you choose a vintage ring, you add a little bit of history to your engagement story. Instead of telling the story of how you found your ring at the mall, it would be more fun to tell a story about the ring being designed a century (or more) before.

    Alternate Payment Options

An engagement ring is a big expense. While vintage pieces are often a better value, they can still be pricey. Instead of financing it and starting out your marriage with significant debt, why not sell a watch or unused piece of jewelry from your collection to reduce the cost? Trading in an older piece can help you purchase your loved on a piece they will love—without breaking the bank.

Your engagement is a very big deal. Do not settle for just any ring. If you would like to learn more about the options available to you in vintage engagement rings, or you want details about selling your jewelry to help offset the cost, call or contact us at Roy Herlz Fine Jewelry.
